Get Fit. Get Active.

Obesity in America has become a major issue in children and young adults. This is a problem that can be solved though if we all work together. All it takes is just a little change in diet and exercise.  The number of adolescents.  Since 1980 the obesity in children and young adults has tripled. Being overweight during childhood or adolescents can cause numerous health issues that can occur later in life. Being overweight as a child can cause many different health problems such as developing high cholesterol, hypertension, respiratory ailments, orthopedic problems, depression and type 2 diabetes as a youth. Overweight adolescents have a 70% chance of being overweight as an adult as well. This is why it is so important that we all work on changing the way that we live our lives and try to help others as well.

One of the main problems relating to obesity is America's fast paced life style and always needing things to be fast. Americans often choose fast food over a home cooked meal due to convenience and it is much more simple to do so. Fast food is one of the main reasons for childhood obesity in America now.

Some other main causes of obesity in children are genetics, behavior, and the environment that they live in. Many children who have obese family members also become obese themselves and can sometimes relate to genetics of the family. Much of child obesity relates to their behavior. So many children spend so much more time watching TV, playing video games, and not going outside to play sports or exercise. Not only does being physically active help your body weight but also helps to fix bad blood pressure and many other heart problems. Children now a days eat very little healthy meals.

Parents are also a huge part in having a healthy child. Parents must take responsibility in making sure their children eat healthy, and exercise on a regular basis. Parents can be a key part in a child's health. If parents take action in making sure that their kids live a healthy lifestyle it makes it much easier for a child to become, and remain healthy.

It is crucial for a child to begin eating right and exercising at a young age. Getting a good start on health at an early age can help you to be healthy for the rest of your life. It is much easier to become healthy at a young age than to wait until you are an adult. In order to do this it is absolutely vital to begin eating healthy meals (fast food as little as possible), getting involved in sports or activities, and to get outside much more than watching TV. If everybody takes part in this we can help to decrease the amount of obesity in America.
